and promoting healthy eating habits for Canadian students through a seamless and innovative mobile app.
LUNCH24YOU is an all-inclusive mobile app that promotes healthy food choices, proper growth and development, and learning experiences and prevents health issues among children and youth.
In response to the escalating risks of diet-related illnesses among Canadian children and youth, “LUNCH24YOU” introduces an innovative mobile application designed to deliver nutritious food and beverages to students. Besides delivering meals, “LUNCH24YOU” aims to promote food and nutrition knowledge, encourage the consumption of healthy options, and help students achieve their full potential.
Children and youth in Canada face increasing risks of diet-related illnesses due to various factors such as an abundance of processed foods, widespread unhealthy food advertising, and limited opportunities to develop food skills. The home food environment and parental behaviour are crucial in shaping children's attitudes and behaviours towards food. Poor eating habits can lead to inadequate nutrient intake, which can cause issues like being underweight or overweight, weakened immune systems, and an increased risk of long-term health problems.
Nutrition plays a crucial role in the growth and development of children and youth, particularly during their school years. As a significant portion of their daily energy intake occurs at school, improving school nutrition can positively impact their dietary behaviours, health outcomes, and academic performance.
Unfortunately, Canada ranks 37th out of 41 wealthy countries in providing healthy food for kids, as one in six children (four in six Inuit children) doesn’t have enough nutritious food. Many students struggle with inadequate breakfast and nutrition intake during school hours, which puts them at risk for nutrient deficiencies and related health problems.
